Let’s get to it!

Regroup, Rebound, Respond

Many of you out there are too busy getting ready for your upcoming Regionals to have time to read this, while others are forced to wrap up the season and end it before you’re ready.

Whichever group you fall into, now is the perfect time to take stock of your season and:

REGROUP: While things are still fresh in your mind, start making as detailed a list as possible in the areas below. Where were you strong and why, and where were you weak and what do you need to do to strengthen that area:

  • Defense / Offense / Pitching / Catching / Coaches

  • Culture

  • Your Practices / Preparation

  • Schedule / Travel

  • Tech / Data / Analytics

  • Roster / Staff - size, depth, flexibility, experience

REBOUND: Once you’ve evaluated each of the categories above, you need to create a specific path to help you strengthen and rebound each of these area. Get specific, don’t just list what you need to do, but how you’re going to do it.

For instance, when looking at strengthening your roster are you going to shift from recruiting travelball players to getting more players out of the portal? Or simply add a little experience through the portal but continue heavily recruiting travelball?

Simpy doing this coming season what you’ve always done is not the way to strengthen your team. Dive deep into your methods and their results so that you spend time yielding the best results. Think about how little you can really know about a recruit and yet you have them for 4 years. If this kind of thing hurt you this season, then you might want to look closer at the portal so you get more experienced players to fill a specific hole and have them for less time.

RESPOND: Now get after it! If you’re still in post-season then for sure you need to respond with your analysis, belief and consistency. If you’re not, then respond by getting a detailed plan and putting it into action.

You can’t just assume everything will be different next season by doing the same thing you did this year. Change for changes sake is not a good plan.

Dive deep, look at where you can strengthen your team and then create as detailed a plan as possible to get going.

Keep in mind that you should also look at YOU. How do you need to get better and in what areas.

Be sure to also give yourself some time to refresh so that your vision is clear, your plan is specific and your energy is high.

The Pitching Summit will be Friday, July 18 in Long Beach, Ca right before PGF!
