Here's Our Pitching Zoom Recording
Today’s Zoom Recording
Today was another GREAT Pitching Zoom. On a Monday morning when everyone was tired after their first full weekend of play, we had some great conversations and sharing!
Below is the link, along with some key things I took away from the call:
“You can’t underestimate fastballs” - Jen Rocha/Oklahoma
“Help your pitchers know that their plus pitch can get hitters out their first time up.” - Christian Conrad/Arizona
“If you can locate something In and locate something Out, we can do something with that.!” - Jen Rocha/Oklahoma
“Your pitcher is going to be ALL-IN on her best pitch every day of the week!”
Getting Hitter’s Out 0-2:
Know what your pitchers can get a swings & misses with.
0-2 pitches that aren’t in the zone trigger the hitter to take.
Balls don’t move a hitter’s timing like they used to in Effective Velocity.
Know where you’re planning to get the hitter out before you start the at-bat. Going too early with the out pitch can stall the at-bat for you.
Often pitchers will come out of their own tunnel 0-2 when they try too hard. This tends to happen when we don’t call their best pitch on this count.
